BankRI Gallery features Cranston artist

PROVIDENCE – The BankRI Pitman Street Gallery is presenting “Photographs by David Silverman” through Aug. 1. showcasing the art of a local photpgrapher.
Cranston photographer and artist David Silverman took up photography in high school to satisfy an art-class requirement. But photography did interest him and he made use of a neighbor’s darkroom to learn the craft. Trial and error were his teachers, and the young Silverman found he had an affinity for taking photographs. He ultimately attended and graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.
Known for his sports photography, his clients include the New England Patriots, Brown University, Bryant University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Yale University. He has also photographed in Alaska, Kenya and Tanzania, the Serengeti and Masai Mara.
The BankRI Galleries are curated by Paula Martiesian, a Providence-based artist and arts advocate.
The branch gallery is located at 137 Pitman St., Providence. Hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.
