PROVIDENCE – Bank Rhode Island recently organized a performance by storyteller Len Cabral for the students of the Lillian Feinstein Elementary School at Sackett Street in Providence. The performance was part of Bank Rhode Island’s ongoing commitment to promote literacy among youth.
Cabral entertained more than 450 children with two 45-minute story sets for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
His performance concluded the second year of Bank Rhode Island’s Inspiring Minds Power Lunch Program at the school, where Bank Rhode Island employees donated their time each Tuesday to serve as reading mentors to five second-graders.
“With limited funds and high academic needs among our students, we wouldn’t have been able to welcome Len Cabral to our school without the support of Bank RI,” said Jose Valerio, principal of the Lillian Feinstein Elementary School. “The bank’s generosity and the weekly mentoring their volunteers provide are truly making a difference in the lives of our students.”
