BankRI relocating E.P. branch

EAST PROVIDENCE – Bank Rhode Island is relocating an East Providence branch about two miles down the road, saying it could help grow its Massachusetts customer base and provide greater convenience to patrons in the area.
Bank Rhode Island, a Brookline Bancorp Inc. company, is moving its branch at 999 South Broadway to 66 highland Ave., East Providence, located just east of the Rhode Island border with Seekonk, Mass.
The bank says the move will provide “greater accessibility to those from nearby East Bay communities and neighboring Massachusetts towns,” according to a press release.
“BankRI has a very loyal base of customers in East Providence and across the surrounding communities; it is an important market for us, which is why we’re relocating to a larger, more convenient location,” said Mark J. Meiklejohn, president and CEO of Bank Rhode Island, in a statement. “In addition to providing added convenience, we’re excited to be more accessible to potential customers from Seekonk and other neighboring Massachusetts towns.”
The new branch is tentatively scheduled to open in the middle of November. It is slated to have expanded features, including a drive-up ATM and two drive-up transaction lanes.
Bank Rhode Island, with 19 branches throughout Rhode Island, is headquartered in Providence.
