Raymond James’ Malcom Makin was ranked the top financial adviser in the state of Rhode Island, according to Barron’s financial magazine’s annual listing of the top 1,000 financial advisers in the U.S.

The rankings are based on data provided by more than 4,000 advisers. Factors included in the rankings: assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record, quality of practice and philanthropic work.

UBS Financial Services’ Robert DiColo was the second-highest ranked adviser in the state. Edith DeMarco from Merrill Lynch ranked third, while Janney Montgomery Scott’s Joseph Hassett and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s James Hilton rounded out the top five in the state. •
