Barstow wins Blood Center contest

WARWICK – Elizabeth Barstow, an 18-year-old senior at the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center, recently was named winner of the Rhode Island Blood Center’s third annual T-shirt design contest. The design, featuring headphones and musical wave, saying ‘Keep the Beats Going,’ will be made into T-shirts for frequent high school blood donors and was chosen by a panel of judges at the center. Student blood donors account for 10 percent of blood collected annually in Rhode Island. Barstow received an 8GB iPod Touch for her winning entry. Blood Center was established in 1979 as nonprofit community blood center and distributes 280 units of blood every day as the sole supplier of blood products to hospitals in Rhode Island.
