The students, parents and faculty at Bay View Academy, in East Providence, recently donated 36 baskets of Thanksgiving classics to families in need, as well as to local organizations such as Re-Focus and St. Vincent’s Home for Children.
The lower, upper and middle schools’ collections yielded 34 baskets worth of canned veggies, stuffing and desserts and the administrative staff collected two additional baskets. Each basket also contained a gift card for a turkey or frozen turkey.
Re-Focus is a nonprofit organization that supports and empowers individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. St. Vincent’s Home for Children provides a 12-month residential education program for children with emotional, behavioral and learning disabilities, in addition to providing case management, advocacy and other services.
The Bay View chapter of the National Honor Society organized the collection. The academy also recently donated a bundle of coats, scarves and blankets to the East Providence/Seekonk Rotary Club’s coat drive. •
