BayCoast to relocate New Bedford branch

BayCoast Bank Wednesday announced its plan to relocate its downtown New Bedford branch to the first level of The Standard-Times building.
The bank, pending approval from the FDIC and Massachusetts Commissioner of Banks, will move from its current location at 95 William St. to the newspaper’s building at 25 Elm St., according to a press release. The move is expected to happen in the fourth quarter of 2015.
“We have had tremendous success in downtown New Bedford since opening the William Street branch in 2006,” said Nick Christ, president and CEO of BayCoast Bank.
Christ says the new location, a quarter-mile away from the current branch, has higher visibility from Route 18 and the entrance to the National Historic Park. The bank reached a lease agreement with the Standard-Times, which was proposed earlier this year, according to the release.
The bank is leasing about 7,000 square feet and the new location will provide improved parking for bank customers and a two-lane drive-up, according to the release.
“This new location will serve as our New Bedford hub headquarters and Carl Taber, executive vice president and chief lending officer, and I will both have offices in the new location exemplifying our continued commitment to providing exceptional service and solutions to the New Bedford area,” Christ said.
