Beaux Arts Ball raises $200K for museum

NEWPORT – The Beaux Arts Ball, an annual summer gala for the Newport Art Museum, raised $209,000 for the museum’s programs on July 19.
More than 300 guests participated in an evening of dinner and dancing in the museum’s historic John N.A. Griswold House. Funds raised for the event, “Night at the Museum: A Beaux Arts Ball,” will help cover the museum’s exhibition, education, outreach and historic preservation programs.
Russell Morin Fine Catering catered the gala, which included a silent auction and a video tribute to gala honorees Anne and Peter Damon. The silent auction raised a total of $31,860, including an island getaway to the Bahamas, which sold for $2,800.
Actors from the Marley Bridges Theatre Company showed off architecturally inspired costumes designed by machine dazzle of New York City. Luke Renchan Entertainment provided the music, and dancer Nicole Raab performed.
Elizabeth and Larry Allen and Sandra and Grenville Craig co-chaired the ball. Jan and Carrie Slee chaired the auction committee. Rebecca Rex chaired the after-party committee.
