Benrus pledges $100K toward Atom Media Group’s R.I. tourism campaign

WARWICK – Benrus LLC and the Delpidio Group each have pledged $100,000 toward ATOM Media Group’s proposal, “Whatever You Do … Rhode Island.”

ATOM Media Group is pitching “Whatever You Do … Rhode Island” in response to the R.I. Commerce Corp.’s request for proposals for a statewide tourism and business attraction branding campaign.

In a news release, ATOM Media Group said that the financial support from Benrus, based in Providence, and Delpidio Group, of Boston, will become part of the crowd-funding component of the campaign.

Michael Mota, CEO of AMG, said that the money pledged will go toward national media buys.

Giovanni Feroce, chairman and CEO of Benrus, in a statement, said he was drawn to “the creativity and courage at the core of ‘Whatever You Do … Rhode Island.’”

“These qualities help define American entrepreneurism as I practice it,” Feroce said.

If Atom wins the state contract, the pledges of support will be fulfilled, Mota said.

“If awarded this contract, my first job will be to meet with every business in Rhode Island that wants to make our state great again,” Mota said.

Mota said Rhode Island must look in-state for the “vision and talent required to make its promotional campaign a success.”

“It would be, in a word, disastrous if an out-of-state firm is chosen to tout the advantages of doing business here,” he said. “The consequences of the message such a decision would send – come start your business in a state that doesn’t have the resources to support it – are too tragically ludicrous to contemplate.”

Mota has said that if AMG wins the contract, all creative and production fees will be waived, an amount he estimated that would be in excess of $1 million. He said his company also would earmark the entire $5 million that has been appropriated through the budget for a consultant for national media buys in major markets around the country, to spread the word about Rhode Island.

“Not only has ATOM Media Group pledged over a million dollars in additional funding for the campaign, today I’ve made the strategic decision to join our other supporters by pledging six figures to the campaign as well. This now brings our total well over a quarter of a million dollars and this is just the beginning,” Mota said.
