PROVIDENCE – Dr. Donald M. Berwick, the former administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and former president and CEO of the Institute for Healthcare improvement, will be the featured speaker at Lifespan’s patient-safety symposium.

The symposium, which will take place at the Crowne Plaza Providence-Warwick Airport on April 4, will bring together Lifespan leadership, clinicians and policymakers to discuss advances in patient-safety initiatives and the future of patient-centered health care in Rhode Island.

Lifespan President and CEO Dr. Timothy Babineau recently announced that Lifespan has made more than a $100 million investment in changing the model of health care delivery to be more patient-centric, including building a new health IT infrastructure. •
