Betaspring, a business accelerator, and Founders League, a shared work space for companies and entrepreneurs, moved into 91 Clemence St. in downtown Providence in early January. When renovations began, the long-vacant, former bar had no windows on the first floor, and black-painted, brick walls. To make a home for the new companies, Cornish had the building gutted and restored. Exposed brick was retained for the second floor, and repainted a more eye-pleasing pale blue on the first floor. All new mechanical systems, bathrooms, windows and a shared kitchen have made for a modern work space. In addition to the shared work space, individual offices are leased to companies. A shared conference room can be scheduled as needed. Begun early in 2015, two years after Cornish purchased the building, the project was finished in late December.
