PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island was eighth highest in the nation in November for its percentage of noncurrent home loans at 7.3 percent, Black Knight Financial Services said Monday.

While the Ocean State again made the top 10 for its high percentage of noncurrent loans, the percentage did drop 17.2 percent over the year, according to Black Knight.

Noncurrent loans combine foreclosures and mortgage delinquencies as a percent of active loans.

Missouri again was No. 1 in the country for its percentage of noncurrent home loans at 11.6 percent, followed by Louisiana at 10.1 percent and New Jersey at 8.2 percent. Maine ranked the highest among the New England states, coming in seventh highest for its noncurrent percentage of 7.4 percent.

North Dakota had the lowest noncurrent percentage at 2.3 percent, and the national average was 5.4 percent. New Hampshire had the lowest percentage of noncurrent loans among the New England states at 4.6 percent, which was 14th lowest in the nation.
