Blackstone Valley Community Health Care to hold groundbreaking, fair

CENTRAL FALLS – Blackstone Valley Community Health Care will host a groundbreaking for a 47,000-square-foot Neighborhood Health Station that, when open, will offer comprehensive medical and dental care under one roof, the agency announced.
The groundbreaking and related events will be held at Notre Dame Express Health Care, 1000 Broad St., on Oct. 8.

After the 10 a.m. groundbreaking, a free community health fair, presented by Blackstone Valley Community Health Care and the Vaseline Healing Project, will run from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. There, physicians will answer community attendees’ medical questions and provide skin cancer screenings and blood pressure and glucose level evaluations. Health and wellness companies will distribute free samples and provide complimentary screenings and demonstrations. Local food vendors and entertainers will also be on site.

Once open, the Blackstone Valley Community Health Care Neighborhood Health Station aims to help meet the growing medical needs of the community by adding 75 additional direct-care employees. The Health Station will serve 10,000 new patients and staff the 50,000 annual visits that Blackstone Valley Community Health Care anticipates.
