Blackstone Valley Tourism Council hosting awards ceremony

LINCOLN – The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council will host its 29th annual dinner and awards event on Oct. 2 at the Twin River Event Center at 100 Twin River Road, Lincoln.
Receiving awards are:

  • State Rep. Elaine A. Coderre – special recognition.
  • Smith-Appleby House Museum, Smithfield – footprints in history
  • Fuller Box Co., Central Falls – Blackstone Valley Excellence in Business and Community Support
  • Amica Mutual Insurance, Lincoln – Blackstone Valley Excellence in Business and Community Support.
  • Berroco, North Smithfield – Arista prize, Rhode Island.
  • Polar Beverages, Worcester, Mass. – Arista prize, New England.
  • Daniele Inc., Burrillville – Arista prize, National.
  • Rick Beyer, filmmaker, The Ghost Army – Blackstone Valley Excellence in the Arts.
    Also, Marcia Green, editor of The Valley Breeze, and Raymond Bacon, retired co-director of the Museum of Work and Culture, will be inducted into the William Blackstone Society.
    In addition, there will be a celebration of G.I. Joe’s 50th birthday and the Pawtucket Red Sox 2014 Governor’s Cup championship.
    The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The awards event begins at 8 p.m. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, which provides veterans with tools and services to improve their quality of life.
