Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island named energy champion

PROVIDENCE – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island has been named a “Rhode Island Energy Champion” for being the first company to successfully complete the Rhode Island Energy Challenge: Find Your Four Campaign.

More than 15 percent of the company’s employees have committed to taking four energy-saving actions in their own homes.

The campaign is sponsored by National Grid and the non-profit SmartPower to increase energy efficiency across the state.

Timothy F. Horan, president of National Grid in Rhode Island, said Blue Cross & Blue Shield’s participation in the energy challenge “is another expression of corporate responsibility by one of the state’s leading corporations.”
