PROVIDENCE – A book co-edited by a Women & Infants Hospital urogynecologist has earned international recognition.
“Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery: Clinical Practice and Surgical Atlas,” co-edited by Dr. Vivian W. Sung, was given Highly Commended Distinction by the British Medical Association in its 2014 book awards.
Sung, who is on staff at Women & Infants and also an associate professor at The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University, indicated that the emerging field is showing strong results improving quality of life for women with a welter of personal health problems, including urinary incontinence and genital prolapse.
“Effective medical solutions to these uncomfortable, and frequently disabling, conditions do exist,” Sung said. •
