Dexter Credit Union recently received the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America’s Vale La Pena Service Award for helping to develop and implement scouting opportunities for Hispanic/Latino youth in the local community.
The credit union has provided uniforms, program support and camp scholarships for Latino/Hispanic youth in Central Falls who would not otherwise have had the means to take advantage of these opportunities.
“Dexter Credit Union is a true example of a company that goes outside of their usual business environment and provides assistance in the local community to build a stronger future,” said John H. Mosby, scout executive and CEO of the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America. “The institution is a strong supporter of the Boy Scout program and its outreach has a true impact on the program and local youth.”
The Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America’s mission is to instill values and prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetime. It serves more than 13,000 youth in Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts and Pawcatuck, Conn. •
