WESTERLY – Bradford Printing and Finishing LLC has filed for bankruptcy protection in R.I. Superior Court, according to court spokesman Craig Berke.
On Sept. 27, Superior Court Judge Brian P. Stern placed the textile factory into receivership, with Theodore Orson, of Orson and Brusini Ltd. serving as temporary receiver. Orson recently served as Central Fall’s lead bankruptcy attorney.
The initial filing was made on Sept. 20.
The company had been plagued with a variety of difficulties over the last five years. During that time, it suffered from several large fires that have crippled its ability to function. The mill was also under 3 feet of water inside the plant during the March 2010 floods.
Company officials, including president Nick Griseto, could not be immediately reached for comment. No one answered calls on Thursday at the company’s local plant.
