EAST GREENWICH – At its April 20 e-waste drive, Bridge Technical Talent collected nearly 4.5 tons of electronic waste, nearly 1.5 more tons than their spring drive last year.
According to Bridge, members from the community lined up on the rainy and windy spring day to drop off their 8,912 pounds of electronics to be properly recycled.
Office Recycling Solutions partnered with Bridge on the company’s fifth e-waste drive, donating the use of their trucks and employees’ time and also taking on the responsibility of sustainable donating all e-waste collected through the event.
Furthermore, nearly 1,300 pounds of paper were shredded at the event, courtesy of Affordable Shredding Inc.
Through this drive, Bridge raised $1,249 in donations to Oceans of Grace, the outreach ministry of First Lutheran Church of East Greenwich. The funds will be invested directly back into the community, as Oceans of Grace supports local people in need through outreach activities revolving around the three major themes of food, clothing and shelter.
Bridge’s biannual drives are designed to help reduce the amount of hazardous electronic waste that ends up in community landfills, cutting communities’ dumping costs and protecting the environment, while helping raise money for a good cause.
Bridge has scheduled their sixth e-waste drive for Saturday, Oct. 5, in the Texas Roadhouse parking lot in East Greenwich.
