Bridge donates $5K to buy iPads

Posted 2/29/12

PROVIDENCE – Bridge Technical Solutions announced Feb. 14 that it donated $5,000 to help purchase iPads for The Providence Center School.

The school, with more than 60 students, will use the iPads as part of a pilot project aiming to increase student attention span and improve learning outcomes.

“The technology seems to help students better connect with the content at hand – whether being used by a kindergarten student who is constructing alphabet letters or by an 11th grader who is viewing the crystal structure of an element on the Periodic Table. The vast development of educational apps for this tool allows for the devices to be used in the instruction of whole classrooms or to be individualized in order to address a particular student’s unique learning needs,” a news release said.

“Access to technology is an important part of the learning process,” said Dale K. Klatzker, president and CEO of The Providence Center. “We are committed to ensuring that our students have access to the latest technological devices as part of their education. Bridge’s generosity has allowed us to provide all of our students from pre-kindergarten right through high school with access to these devices, which is critical to their individual learning.”

Bridge is a technical staffing solutions firm in East Greenwich. The Providence Center serves children aged 3 to 21 who have disorders and mental health problems with the ultimate goal of returning each student to his/her local public school with the emotional, social and academic skills needed to succeed, the news release said.
