Bristol County Savings Bank foundation donates $33K

PAWTUCKET – Bristol County Savings Bank and its charitable foundation has recently awarded ten grants to Pawtucket area organizations, totaling $33,360.

The recipients included Rhode Island Mayoral Academy – Blackstone Valley Prep, St. Cecilia School, Books are Wings, Children’s Friend & Service, YMCA of Pawtucket, Pawtucket Arts Collaborative, Pawtucket Soup Kitchen, Camp Ruggles, The Community Players, and St. Vincent de Paul – St. Leo’s Conference.

In attendance at the McCoy Stadium presentation were Patrick Murray, president and CEO of Bristol County Savings Bank and president of Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation; Dennis Kelly, chairman, Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation; Michele Roberts, Executive Vice President & Community Relations Officer at BCSB and Clerk of the BCSCF, Mayor Donald Grebien, along with representatives from each of the ten organizations.

The bank’s charitable foundation was established in 1996 as part of its 150th anniversary celebration. Since then, $8.4 million in grants have been awarded to hundreds of 501(c)(3) organizations, just under $2 million within the Pawtucket area. The foundation’s purpose is to fund needs that contribute to the economic and the social well-being of the people and institutions located in greater Attleboro/Taunton and greater New Bedford/Dartmouth, Massachusetts, as well as Pawtucket, Rhode Island, with particular emphasis in the areas of education and literacy, economic development and housing for the low- to moderate-income population.

“As a community bank, we feel it’s vitally important to support local organizations that are doing all they can to make a positive impact during these challenging times,” said Patrick Murray, president of the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation and president of Bristol County Savings Bank in a statement. “The nonprofit organizations we assisted this year are all building a stronger community in different ways and, in so doing, continually inspire us to keep doing our part.”
