TAUNTON – Bristol County Savings Bank is supporting the region’s clean energy initiatives with a $45,000 commitment to the New Bedford Wind Energy Center, the bank announced. The contribution to the center’s 21st Century Offshore Wind Fund will be given in segments of $15,000 over three years.
“Being a community bank, we take pride in investing in the futures of the cities and towns in which we serve,” said Bristol County Savings Bank President and CEO Patrick J. Murray Jr.
The offshore wind fund is a mechanism for the private sector to support and capture the benefits of the wind energy industry.
“We appreciate Bristol County Savings Bank’s commitment to the New Bedford Wind Energy Center,” said New Bedford Mayor Jon F. Mitchell. “With support from great community partners like the bank, New Bedford is more likely to capture new jobs and investment in the critical emerging market of offshore wind.”
The New Bedford Wind Energy Center was created in March 2013 as part of the New Bedford Economic Development Council. The center ensures that developments in the wind energy industry are integrated into the city’s master plan, New Bedford 2020.
