TAUNTON - Bristol County Savings Bank and its charitable foundation awarded $1.1 million in grants last year. The funds were given to 143 different organizations in towns and cities across the region that the bank serves, including Pawtucket, Taunton, Attleboro, North Attleboro, Raynham, Rehoboth, Dartmouth and New Bedford.
Established in 1996, the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation was formed as part of the bank’s 150th anniversary celebration. According to bank officials, more than $8 million in grants have been awarded to hundreds of 501(c)(3) organizations that contribute to the economic and the social well-being of the region. The grants emphasize education, literacy, economic development and housing for the low- to moderate-income population.
According to Patrick Murray, president of the foundation and executive vice president/treasurer & COO of BCSB, the bank believes it is vital to support local organizations. “The not-for-profit organizations we assisted this year are all building a stronger community in different ways and, in so doing, continually inspire us to keep doing our part.”
