Bristol County Savings gives $88K to 20 southeastern Mass. nonprofits


TAUNTON – Bristol County Savings Bank has awarded $42,679 in grants to nine nonprofits in the New Bedford and Dartmouth area, as well as $35,261 in grants to 11 nonprofits in Taunton and Raynham.

In the New Bedford and Dartmouth area, the grants, made through the bank’s charitable foundation, were presented to The Schwartz Center ($7,500), Child & Family Services ($6,000), Lakeville Little League ($6,000), United Interfaith Action ($5,000), Community Rowing ($5,000), Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School ($4,579), Boys & Girl Club of New Bedford ($3,600), Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts ($2,500), and the Dartmouth YMCA ($2,500).

In Taunton and Raynham, grants were presented to Associates for Human Services ($1,700), Boys & Girls Club of Taunton ($2,100), Heart of Taunton ($1,200), Jared C. Monti Memorial Park Fund ($5,000), Morton Hospital & Medical Center ($4,500), Old Colony Historical Society ($5,000), Open Shelves Food Pantry ($366), Our Daily Bread ($1,371), Taunton Public Schools ($4,750), Taunton Youth Football & Cheerleading ($1,774), and Triumph Inc. ($7,500).

The foundation was established in 1996 as part of the bank’s 150th anniversary celebration. Its purpose is to fund needs that contribute to the economy and the social well-being of the people and institutions located in greater Attleboro/Taunton and greater New Bedford/Dartmouth, as well as the Pawtucket area. Since its inception, the foundation has distributed more than $5.8 million in grants to more than 400 different 501c(3) organizations. In 2009, the foundation awarded a record $822,472 to 129 organizations.
