TAUNTON – Bristol County Savings Bank, through its charitable foundation, awarded grants totaling $64,450 to eight Taunton area nonprofit organizations in early January.

“In keeping with our mission as a community bank, we feel it is vitally important to support local nonprofit organizations that are doing all they can to make a positive impact in the neighborhoods we also serve,” said Patrick J. Murray Jr., foundation president and bank president and CEO. “Those we assisted are all building a stronger community in different ways and, as a result, continually inspire us to do our part.”

The foundation emphasizes the areas of education and literacy, economic development and housing for the low- to moderate-income population, committing more than $14 million to hundreds of different nonprofit organizations since its inception.
