Brown, Bryant, PC earn mentions in Princeton Review’s Best 380 college rankings for 2016

Brown University, Providence College and Bryant University each ranked in one or more top 20 listings in the Princeton Review’s Best 380 college rankings for 2016.
The University of Rhode Island and Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. were profiled in the rankings, which were published Tuesday in book form by Penguin Random House, but did not make any of the top 20 listings.
According to the Princeton Review, Providence College ranked first for “Everyone Plays Intramural Sports.” But the college also ranked sixth in “Lots of Hard Liquor,” reflecting high alcohol use, as well as 11th for strained town/gown relations and 12th for little race or class interaction among students.
Brown is ranked 12th for best college newspaper and 16th for best college theater.
Bryant is ranked 18th for best career services.
The rankings are based on surveys of 136,000 students (or, on average, 358 per campus) at the 380 colleges. The survey asks students 80 questions about their school’s academics, administration, student body and themselves. The ranking methodology uses a five-point Likert scale to convert qualitative student assessments into quantitative data for school-to-school comparisons.
Across the country, Clemson University in South Carolina took the number one spot for best career services, and Princeton University in New Jersey captured first place for “great financial aid.”
