PROVIDENCE – Brown University ranked No. 25 on the “Top 100 Social Media Colleges” published by StudentAdvisor.com for the fall.
The methodology ranks higher education institutions based on their “mastery of public social media methods, tools and websites” and how effective they are in engaging their audience on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other digital media tools such as iTunes and podcasts.
It takes into account the size of each school’s population and “other metrics” to gauge overall reach and effectiveness. StudentAdvisor.com updates its findings regularly, it said.
“Consistently smart and fresh updates on YouTube, Flickr, LinkedIn. Well-executed and informative Facebook presence. Nicely done,” StudentAdvisor.com said about Brown. Nevertheless, the Providence university slipped 7 places from the previous ranking.
Earning the top spot on the list was John Hopkins University in Baltimore; Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., came in at No. 2; and the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., ended up in the third spot.
