Brown graduate students organize Jane’s Walk

PROVIDENCE – Graduate students in the public humanities program at Brown University are organizing a Jane’s Walk, a two-day festival of free walking tours led by locals, this weekend, May 4 and May 5.
Based in Toronto, Ontario, Jane’s Walk, according to its website, celebrates the ideas and legacy of the late urbanist Jane Jacobs through organizing people to explore their neighborhoods and meeting their neighbors.
The organization was formed in 2007 and as of May 2011, 511 walks were held in 75 cities in 15 countries worldwide.
Walks are being held this weekend all over the city, including on the West Side, the Jewelry District, Smith Hill, and Elmwood.
The walks are free. For more information, visit janeswalk.net/index.php/walks/united-states/providence/
