Brown hosts conference on emergency medicine

PROVIDENCE – The Warren Alpert Medical School hosted the 17th annual New England regional meeting of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine on April 3.
Several hundred emergency-department providers attended from across New England.
The session, held at the Rhode Island Convention Center, features keynote speaker Dr. Debra Elaine Houry of the Emory University School of Medicine.
Houry, an expert on violence against women and domestic violence, spoke about the importance of emergency-room physicians learning to use social media to support their work.
Dr. Brian Zink, chief of the department of emergency medicine at Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital, also spoke.
The session included a reception at the Alpert Medical School education building at 222 Richmond St. •
