Bryant biz school dean leaves

SMITHFIELD – Michael Cooper, dean of the College of Business at Bryant University, is leaving his post to join Kean University in Union, N.J., the university announced in an email message to staff on Wednesday.

In resigning his position, which he has held since May 2011, Cooper said that while he was sad to leave Bryant, he is looking forward to new challenges as dean of the College of Business and Public Management at Kean University.

“I am so proud to have served as dean of the College of Business, and I will cherish the professional and personal relationships that I have been able to forge here,” Cooper said in his resignation letter. “I believe that I am leaving the college in good hands and poised for great success.”

In the email to Bryant staff, Jose-Marie Griffiths, vice president of academic affairs for the university, said she and Bryant President Ronald K. Machtley both wish Cooper well in his new endeavor.

“President Machtley and I feel we have greatly benefited from the service Dean Cooper has given the university,” Griffiths wrote.

Before joining Bryant, Cooper was dean of Rutgers Business School for nearly four years. He previously was the founding dean of the Executive Leadership Institute and associate dean of the Howe School of Technology Management at the Stevens Institute of Technology.
