NEW YORK – Bryant University’s supply-chain management program was among a handful of MBA programs commended in The Wall Street Journal’s “Hot New MBA” report.

The article, published on Thursday, notes nine different MBA programs in the United States that help train students to deal with the complex global operating issues and become masters of supply-chain management.

Bryant had the only program listed in New England, and was one of three located on the East Coast, including Rutgers Business School in New Jersey and the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School in Chapel Hill, N.C., a program that including a master of engineering management from Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Bryant added an undergraduate major and an MBA specialization in supply-chain management last fall after introducing an undergraduate minor in the field four year ago, said the news source. Courses include global sourcing and social responsibility in the supply chain and a hands-on consulting project.
Employers “don’t want cobbled-together courses, they want a real, content-laden supply-chain program,” Teresa McCarthy, director of Bryant’s global supply chain management program, told the WSJ.
Bryant already has roughly 150 undergraduate and MBA students pursuing the field and, according to The Wall Street Journal, employers are “taking note.” General Dynamics Corp. and Target Corp. were reported among the companies that have “plucked Bryant students for job interviews and internships.”
