Bryant, PC only R.I. undergrad business schools to make Businessweek list

NEW YORK – Bryant University and Providence College both made the list of the nation’s top 124 in the latest ranking done by Bloomberg Businessweek, released Wednesday.

Bryant came in at No. 63, while PC was listed at No. 109. The list was topped by the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business for the fourth consecutive year. Rounding out the top five were the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce, Cornell University’s Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, Washington University’s Olin Business School, in St. Louis, and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

The magazine said that it uses nine ranking criteria. Two surveys supply data from students and employers, while the rankers also looked at academic quality, and employment and graduate school success. One hundred-and-forty-five schools participated in the ranking, although a number of them were eliminated for having insufficient response to the surveys.

A number of New England schools made the list, in addition to Bryant and Quinnipiac. They were:

• Worcester Polytechnic Institute, School of Business, No. 51

• University of Connecticut, School of Business, No. 54

• Quinnipiac University, School of Business, No. 61

• Fairfield University, Dolan School of Business, No. 83

• University of Vermont, School of Business Administration, No. 123
