WARWICK – Burlington Coat Factory has opened in newly renovated interior space at the Rhode Island Mall.
The grand opening on Sept. 23 marked the first retail opening in the mall since it was acquired by MCB Real Estate LLC in 2015.
Burlington Coat Factory has three other stores in Rhode Island, among 567 nationally. It is known as a discount department store retailer and is headquartered in New Jersey. The location at Rhode Island Mall, located at 650 Bald Hill Road in Warwick, is open seven days a week.
New England Construction, the general contractor, initiated the redevelopment of interior space at the mall in November 2015 and completed the work in August, according to its website.
The 200,000-square-foot interior space of the mall will be fit out for new tenants. The entire project, including the Burlington space, was estimated at $7.5 million.
David Frederick, managing partner of MCB Real Estate, based in Baltimore, said this week no new leases have been signed for the remaining space, but that discussions are ongoing.
“We have a lot of activity,” he said.
