(Updated 10:49 a.m.)EASTON – Stonehill College is one of the 50 most underrated colleges in America, according to Business Insider.
Business Insider compared U.S. News & World Report’s rankings of the best universities and national liberal arts colleges in the country with PayScale’s 2013-2014 College Salary Report, which ranks colleges and universities based on their graduates’ mid-career salaries.
The business and technology news website’s researchers specifically looked for schools that ranked relatively low on the U.S. News list, but had high mid-career salaries.
Stonehill, a private, Catholic school with approximately 2,400 students, ranked No. 41, tying with University of Tulsa in Oklahoma; Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif.; Auburn University in Auburn, Ala.; and University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.
Stonehill ranked No. 105 on the US News report, and No. 156 on the PayScale report. It also was named one of the best liberal arts schools in the country by U.S. News, as well as a top green school by the Princeton Review. By mid-career, Stonehill graduates earn $87,600 on average, according to Business Insider.
“We are always pleased when an independent organization recognizes the value of the Stonehill education. This ranking, which recognizes the economic success of many of our alumni, is another positive indication that a Stonehill degree is a strong investment,” Stonehill College spokesperson Martin McGovern wrote in an email.
Topping the list was the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where most graduates are employed immediately after graduation and earn an average salary of $98,000 after 10 years of employment.

Ranking No. 2 was the University of Massachusetts Lowell, known for its science and engineering programs, and online bachelor’s degree program in psychology. Graduates earn an average mid-career salary of $95,100, the website said.
