Contained in this issue of PBN is our annual Business Women special section, a tangible reminder of the program’s awards luncheon held the previous week. This year’s was the sixth such event, and as always, the winners were deserving and the attendees enthusiastic in their support.

While the program is a PBN creation, we are just the chroniclers of the stories of the women honored. Truly fortunate is the region, which is able to draw on the talent and engagement of the program awardees.

Since its beginnings, the Business Women Awards have recognized more than 100 business leaders, researchers, educators, attorneys, doctors and entrepreneurs, without whom we would surely live in a much less rich place.

Reading the stories in the special section yields a great sense of what is right in the region, while at the same time engendering a sense of optimism about the future. Take a few moments and see if you agree. •
