CCRI gets $379K to upgrade machining lab

PROVIDENCE – Community College of Rhode Island President Ray Di Pasquale announced last month the college has received a $378,965 grant from the Champlin Foundations to upgrade equipment in its machining lab.
Peter Woodberry, dean of business, science and technology, said the grant would boost “our now quite popular computerized numeric control certificate programs, which will rely on that new equipment to build the fundamental skills which students will need.”
According to the grant proposal, the funds will go toward the replacement of the college’s four vertical milling machines, four 14-inch lathes, four surface grinders and one drill press. •
