CCRI opens new manufacturing lab

WARWICK – The Community College of Rhode Island is expanding its advanced-manufacturing programs to the Liston Campus in Providence this spring.

A ribbon-cutting and open house were held for the opening of the new Computer Numerical Control Manufacturing Laboratory at the campus on Dec. 14.

Modern manufacturing depends upon the use of computers, robots, 3-D printing and digital technology, and CNC machining is at the heart of the industry, CCRI said in a statement. Demand is growing for employees to fill manufacturing jobs in Rhode Island, and CCRI is responding with cutting-edge classrooms and technology to prepare students for these careers, the college said.

CCRI offers five certificates and two associate in science degree tracks in advanced manufacturing technology. •
