Posted 2/26/13

PROVIDENCE – The Capital Good Fund anticipates providing free tax preparation for 600 families this year, up from 200 last year and 26 in 2010, Executive Director Andy Posner said in an e-mail.

The organization, a nonprofit microfinance organization that targets the causes of poverty, provides free tax preparation for those who earn less than $51,000.

The Capital Good Fund also provides financial coaching and has trained a new group of 13 college students to serve as Financial Coaching Fellows. Since it was founded four years ago, the organization has provided financial coaching to 1,000 clients in Rhode Island.

β€œIn the next few years, we are seeking to continue on a rapid growth path, including a plan to expand to Massachusetts in 2014,” Posner said.
