PROVIDENCE – The Childhood Lead Action Project will celebrate its 21st anniversary on Oct. 10 in the atrium at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Providence-Warwick. The event will feature the presentation of CLAP’s annual “Beyond the Call of Duty” awards to outstanding members of the community who have made a significant contribution to the issue of childhood lead poisoning.
Among the recipients this year will be Richard Asinof, former Providence Business News health care and life sciences contributing writer, who will receive media-person-of-the-year honors from the organization.
Other award winners include: Kate Lovejoy, West Bay Community Action; Dr. Peter Simon, R.I. Department of Health; Jim Lucht, formerly of the Providence Plan and Jeffrey L. Lykins, Providence’s director of inspections and standards. •
