CNE, Butler launch mental health website

PROVIDENCE – In recognition of Mental Health Month, Care New England and Butler Hospital recently launched a new health information website, offering a one-stop resource for members of the community to obtain information about mental and behavioral health.

The site has information on risk factors, symptoms, prevention tips, treatments and research for all major mental illnesses, including addictions, as well as memory and movement disorders. The site also includes a section on suggested questions people may want to ask their primary care providers.

Mental health was identified as a top priority in a Community Health Needs Assessment conducted by the Hospital Association of Rhode Island last year.

“As part of our plan in response to the needs assessment, we tapped into the expertise at Butler Hospital and throughout CNE to create a trustworthy resource for the thousands of people in our community looking for information for themselves or loved ones struggling with mental illness and seeking better health,” said Dr. Patricia Recupero, president and CEO of Butler Hospital and executive vice president for Brain and Behavioral Health, CNE.

The interactive site provides confidential online screenings for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, addictions, and PTSD, as well as a resource for reliable and comprehensive medication information, including descriptions on what each medication is used for and any dietary considerations and side effects.
