On A COMMUNITY ARBOR DAY Project
Join the JAYCEES and volunteers for a community ARBOR DAY along the extensive planting beds, monument plazas and decorative tree wells on Saturday, APRIL 27 th, 2013 at their award-winning JAYCEE Corridor & Arboretum in the Riverpoint COMMUNITY Park.
This open space project – part of JAYCEE EARTH DAY MONTH - will begin around 10:00Am and run to approximately 1:30Pm. Please feel free to bring along a shovel and/or small wheelbarrow, if you're able.
The JAYCEES will demonstrate the proper use and application of mulching plants, tree wells and shrubbery bases to retains soil moisture, reduce weed & turf growth, prevents soil temperature extremes and improves the overall soil structure.
The JAYCEES always appreciate any volunteer assistance with Students, Scouts, Families & Neighbors and of course, any kind donations of MULCH, PLANTS or Contributions in general through the JAYCEE Education & Library Foundation, that allows these public opportunities for valuable environmental projects and quality community and educational programming.
The JAYCEES and a green services company, Reduce My Eco Footprint, will continue to place an E-Waste Collection Bin at their site to capture all recycled cell phones.
It's estimated 100 Million cell phones are thrown out annually in the United States landing in our landfills or shipped overseas creating TOXIC Wastelands. Cell phones and batteries are some of the largest contributors of toxic substances to our landfills.
And don’t forget ECOLOGY DAY & PEACE PRAYER CEREMONY on May 11th, 2013 @ 10:AM. Scouts, Students, Veterans, Public Safety Officials, VOLUNTEERS Invited!
