CVS’ Foulkes named to Fortune’s Most Powerful Women list

WOONSOCKET – Helena Foulkes, executive vice president of CVS Health Corp. and president of CVS/pharmacy, made it onto Fortune’s “Most Powerful Women” list again.

Foulkes, 51, was ranked 14th, an improvement over her previous standing of 26th. A total of 51 women were included on the 18th annual list.

The magazine noted CVS’ decision to stop selling tobacco products in 2014, and how it was followed up with two “major” initiatives this year – the $1.9 billion purchase of Target’s prescription-filling business – a deal that it said will give CVS the most pharmacy locations in the country – and launching new beauty and healthy food sections in many stores.

Fortune said Foulkes handles $68 billion of CVS’ approximately $139 billion in revenue. It said the company’s market value was $111 billion as of Sept. 1. According to information from CVS, Foulkes has been with the company since 1992. She has held her current position since January 2014.

Foulkes shares the list with Mary Barra, the CEO of General Motors, ranked No. 1; Indra Nooyi, CEO and chairman of PepsiCo, No. 2; and Ginni Rometty, CEO, chairman and president of IBM, No. 3. Singer Taylor Swift was ranked last at No. 51.

“One trillion dollars in stock market value. That’s what just the 27 CEOs on the Fortune Most Powerful Women list control,” Fortune said.
