CVS Health opening digital innovation lab in Boston

WOONSOCKET – CVS Health will open a new Digital Innovation Lab in Boston.
The 15,130-square-foot center, at 116 Huntington Ave., will serve the CVS Health Digital team, which will remain headquartered in Woonsocket.
The Digital Experience Center opened in September at the company’s Woonsocket headquarters and is leading the CVS Health Digital strategy.; CVS Health is hiring for both locations.

Company spokeswoman Erin C. Pensa said there are 200 digital employees in Rhode Island, with plans to grow that number by another 100.

According to a press release from the company, Boston was chosen for the lab “because of the wealth of tech sector businesses establishing brick and mortar sites and the fact that it is one of the world’s renowned healthcare cities serving as the home to many leading medical institutions.”
Brian Tilzer, senior vice president, chief digital officer for CVS Health, said, “Our new Boston office is a perfect complement to the growth happening on our team in Woonsocket and will help keep us at the forefront of digital innovation. The explosion of the city’s tech sector, as well as an increased opportunity to attract top talent in both healthcare and technology in the Greater Boston area, makes this the right move for us.”
The new CVS Health Digital Innovation Lab can house approximately 100 employees. Ninety percent of them are anticipated to be new hires, the company said.

Pensa said in an email that the “lab” in Boston serves “as another location where we can recruit new talent and where we’ll be in the center of technology and healthcare.” She said the company did not choose Boston over Rhode Island, as it has more digital jobs in Rhode Island, noting the opening of the Digital Experience Center.
