CVS, National Grid announce companies sponsored for RWU program
NATIONAL GRID and CVS Caremark Corp. have announced the six supply-chain professionals from diverse businesses that they will sponsor to attend a Roger Williams University program designed to help minority-owned, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses better position themselves to win contracts.
PROVIDENCE – CVS Caremark Corp. and National Grid have announced the six suppliers they will sponsor to participate in a continuing education program in supply-chain business management at Roger Williams University.
The program, the university’s “CEO Master Series,” will train the six diverse supply-chain professionals – who lead women-owned, minority-owned or veteran-owned businesses – in the small-business skills essential to succeed.
CVS Caremark has sponsored Capital City Construction Inc., a commercial general contractor in Bismarck, N.D.; Peachtree Supplies, an office and business product dealer in Marietta, Ga.; and Heroica’s Painting Inc., a professional painting company in Providence.
National Grid will sponsor SAK Environmental, an environmental consulting and engineering services firm in North Andover, Mass.; Minuteman Trucks Inc., a commercial truck dealership in Walpole, Mass.; and Evelyn Audet Lighting Co., an exterior lighting design company in East Providence.
CVS and National Grid first announced the launch of the program in April. Through its school of continuing studies, RWU customized this professional development program to meet the specific needs of supply-chain managers. The “CEO Master Series” curriculum is designed and offered by the RWU Professional Education Center.
Raul Suarez-Rodriguez, manager of supplier diversity for CVS Caremark, and Carla Hunter Ramsey, director of supplier diversity for National Grid, said their respective companies were eager to send vendors that they do business with or may develop a working relationship with through the program.
“It is so important that corporations like National Grid and CVS Caremark take an active role in developing a diverse pool of business leaders so that both organizations can create new opportunities for jobs growth and economic expansion,” Ramsey said.
