WOONSOCKET – CVS Caremark Corp.’s Accordant Health Services Inc. has received Gold Standard certification from the Disease Management Purchasing Consortium, affirming the effectiveness of Accordant’s disease-management programs in reducing inpatient event rates among its clients.

While many companies claim to generate savings for clients, only companies able to show quantifiable inpatient event reduction when measured according to Disease Management Purchasing Consortium methodology are awarded the consortium’s Gold Standard and a letter of validation guaranteeing their savings generated, Accordant said.

“Accordant is one of only a few disease-management providers that are willing to measure savings validly and are able to show event rate reduction as a result of their interventions,” said Al Lewis, president of the Massachusetts-based Disease Management Purchasing Consortium, in a statement.

Accordant Health Services is a care-management group headquartered in Greensboro, N.C., that provides support and wellness programs for patients with rare, chronic diseases including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, lupus, Parkinson’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, hemophilia, cystic fibrosis and sickle cell disease.
