WOONSOCKET – CVS Health Corp. this week completed the acquisition of Omnicare, a provider of pharmacy services to long-term care facilities, for approximately $12.9 billion.
CVS, the largest provider of prescription drugs in the United States, issued a press release about the acquisition this week.
It had announced its plans in May to acquire Omnicare, as a way to expand services to the country’s elderly. Shortly after, CVS also said that it would acquire Target Corp.’s and clinics for $1.9 billion, putting its brand, which includes MinuteClinics, in retail locations across 47 states.
