Calif. firm acquires three New England practices

Posted 9/10/12

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – A national hospital group practice firm, IPC The Hospitalist Company Inc., has acquired three group practices in the region: Omni Medical Diagnostics PC, operating in Fall River, Nexis Healthcare Inc., operating in Taunton, and Park Medical Associates LLC, operating in North Smithfield.

The three practice groups have a combined annualized volume of approximately 65,000 patient encounters.

Dr. Scott Wilson, co-owner of the three practices, said: “IPC provides us the financial, management and technology resources we need to maximize our growth opportunity and provide high quality care to the hospitals we serve.”

Given the increasing demands being placed on local practices by hospital systems, Wilson continued, “joining forces with IPC is the smart move for local practices such as ours.”

R. Jeffrey Taylor, president and chief operating office of IPC The Hospitalist Co., explained his company’s reasons for the acquisition. “We are very pleased that these three groups have selected IPC as their practice partner. In this era of health care reform, smaller groups increasingly view IPC as the right next step for growing their practices as they seek new ways to more fully engage and better align with their hospitals.”
