WARWICK – The Cannabis Career Institute will hold a business training session on March 1 for Rhode Islanders interested in opening a medical marijuana dispensary or selling marijuana and edible cannabis products if and when the state legalizes recreational marijuana use.
“As the days of cannabis prohibition draw to an end and states begin to eye the potential revenue gains to be had by legalizing marijuana, the entrepreneurs of Rhode Island need to learn the proper business techniques to keep a business effectively running,” said the Cannabis Career Institute in a release.
The full-day class will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Comfort Inn Airport at 1940 Post Road in Warwick, and the cost of attendance is $299.
Students will learn about compliance with regulation surrounding the sale of marijuana, the basics of marketing and advertising a business, and the legal and financial challenges of starting up a medical marijuana dispensary, marijuana delivery service, grow operation or marijuana edibles business.
The Cannabis Career Institute is a nationally recognized leader in business training for the cannabis industry and has helped to train more than 2,000 students in local marijuana distribution laws.
Currently, marijuana use is legal in Rhode Island only as a medical treatment. Sen. Joshua Miller and Rep. Edith Ajello, both Providence Democrats, have announced plans to introduce a bill that would legalize recreational use of marijuana.
