PAWTUCKET – Care New England and Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island will mark their new partnership agreement with a signing ceremony on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 3, at Memorial Hospital.

At the ceremony, Care New England President and CEO Dennis D. Keefe and Memorial Hospital Interim President and CEO Arthur DeBlois III will sign the official documents.

The new affiliation will bring to an end Memorial Hospital’s status as a stand-alone acute care community hospital after more than 100 years, marking a “milestone” in the changing landscape of health care delivery in Rhode Island, according to hospital officials.

Under the new agreement, Memorial will become part of the Care New England hospital network, with the goal of providing more comprehensive services for patients. The two institutions envision that the partnership will strengthen clinical programs, maintain strong academic and research platforms, and deliver an integrated delivery system of coordinated patient services, according to hospital officials.

Attending the ceremony will be management teams from Care New England and Memorial, medical staff, nurses and employees of Memorial, and board members from both hospitals.
