PROVIDENCE – The Care New England hospital system will rejoin the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, effective April 1, officials from both organizations announced on Feb. 15. Care New England had resigned from the association in 2003.
“With so many questions about the future of health care still without answers, being part of HARI is a tremendous opportunity to collaborate on issues of common concern and projects for the greater good of the communities we serve,” said Dennis D. Keefe, president and CEO of Care New England. “As resources become more constrained, as competition becomes more intense, and as public policy issues become more heated, the strength in speaking with one voice will become even more important.”
HARI President Edward Quinlan also praised the relationship’s renewal, citing the need for a unified voice in today’s rapidly changing health care environment.
“The Care New England hospitals play a vital role in protecting and advancing the health care of Rhode Islanders,” Quinlan said. “Working together through a collaborative association, we can strengthen that commitment. Our collective advocacy for patients in the delivery of high quality, cost effective care is greatly enhanced by working together.”
